SMTOWN fans can be happy today! Two of the label’s biggest stars are back from the military!
On August 18th KST, Super Junior‘s Choi Siwon and TVXQ‘s Shim Changmin (also known as Max) were released from their military duty. The two have been serving in the same unit as police officers.
Despite not planning an official discharge event, press and fans began lining up since early morning to welcome the guys back from their service. The two fandoms, known as ELF and Cassiopeia, met peacefully and helped support each other during the discharge, showing the lovely friendship and relationship they have enjoyed for so many years and emulating the close relationship of Super Junior and TVXQ themselves. As a matter of fact, many people are fans of both groups and laughingly call themselves the Pepsi fandom due to the blue and red colors of each respective fandom, calling themselves fans of DBSJ.
ELF lined up with signs that played to Siwon’s quirky sense of humor, holding up posters that said “If you had to choose between Bugsy and ELF, which one would you choose?” (Bugsy is Siwon’s dog). Meanwhile, Cassiopeia covered the crowd with red balloons with adorable images of Max to welcome him home.
In addition, the hashtags #WelcomeBackSiwon and #WelcomeBackChangmin are currently trending on Twitter, proving the lasting popularity of the two legendary Kpop groups.
The two stars came out together, dressed in uniform, then stopped to pose for a few pictures as they saluted the crowd, then smiled and waved at fans.
