Super Junior has done it again! The long-lasting K-pop group has held another round of successful concerts at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
On November 30th December 1st, the group held their Super Show 7 tour at the famous venue, thrilling all those in attendance. Due to fewer active members over the past few years as many of them served in the military, this is the first time the group has performed at the venue in four years.
The venue holds 55,000 people and both shows were completely sold out, showing the group’s lasting popularity in the K-pop world, especially in Japan where they have such a huge fanbase.
The first day of the show started early with fans lining up since the morning hours to buy merchandise, concert goods, and more. When they were finally allowed in the venue, an air of excitement permeated the venue. Not only were Japanese fans in attendance, but many other nationalities were represented as well. Many fans consider this to be the ultimate Super Junior experience since the group puts on their biggest shows at this venue, complete with a massive stage, moving carts that circle the venue, and much more. As such, fans traveled to the event from Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, the USA, and more. Keeping this in mind, the group made sure to try to communicate with everyone, showing off both their Japanese and English skills in an effort to connect with the audience.
As the opening video began, fans cheered enthusiastically for each member who appeared on the screen during their introduction. When Super Junior finally appeared on the stage, the cheers were truly deafening!
Throughout the night, the group performed many of their classic hits like “Mr. Simple” and “Bonamana,” as well as newer songs like “Devil” and “One More Time.” With their amazing vocals and fantastic choreography, the group impressed everyone in attendance, giving them a night they will never forget. In fact, despite now being in their 14th year as a group and leader Leeteuk confessing they were all older and more tired now, they performed with the same energy, zeal, and excitement that they did as rookies.
In addition to group songs, they also had special stages from others like Yesung and Ryeowook, as well as sub-units like Super Junior-D&E who performed songs like “‘Bout You” and “Oppa, Oppa.”
The concerts weren’t without challenges of course. On day one of the show, Eunhyuk suffered an injury to the muscles near his ribs, causing pain and discomfort that he said didn’t allow him to give his best performance. Despite that, he continued the show with a truly professional attitude. Afterwards, however, there was a meet-and-greet that he was unable to attend as he sought medical attention.
On day two of the show, fans were super excited to learn Kyuhyun was in the audience! The maknae of the group is currently fulfilling his military duty, but he took some of his time off to come support the group for their show. When they pointed him out, he stood up proudly, waving his lightstick and grinning. They even gave him a microphone so he could address fans. The group later shared a photo of them backstage with Kyuhyun, everyone looking happy to be reunited.
Despite the very lengthy set list for the concert that lasted several hours, the group never seemed to slow down, having fun as they performed. In fact, the charm of Super Junior for many fans is exactly how much fun they seem to have both together and onstage. They constantly run from one side of the stage to another, making sure to fill the venue with their presence and interact with fans as much as possible. Using moving carts, they went around the venue, allowing fans in the higher levels to also get a closer glimpse at them and enjoy the night in a special way.

Fans kept their light sticks shining blue the entire time, truly making the venue a sapphire blue ocean. They did the wave and showed off proudly to the members, who never fail to be amazed at the sight of so many beautiful lights from their fans. To close out day two, the fans in attendance held a special project to spell out a message of love, as well as a huge light that spelled out “Welcome Back,” thus showing the group how thrilled Japan was to host the group in the Tokyo Dome once more.
The Tokyo Dome can be a daunting venue. It is so large that it can make it difficult to truly connect with the audience and make them feel like the money they spent on tickets was worth it, especially when so many of the 55,000 people in attendance have to sit so far from the stage. However, Super Junior is a group that truly goes the extra mile, making sure each and every fan leaves totally satisfied with the amazing night and feeling like they had a real connection with both the group and other fans. As for the fans who couldn’t attend, Super Junior always releases an official DVD of the night so that everyone can experience the magic!
