It may have been over 11 years since their debut, but Super Junior proves their popularity once more as Leeteuk, Heechul, and Kyuhyun are named the Top 3 Idol MC’s of 2016.
According to a recent report by Naver, the three Super Junior singers are not only some of the busiest idols-turned-hosts on TV, but they are the most popular ones as well!
Heechul has always been a popular character on variety shows, but his appearance on the popular show “Knowing Bros” has brought him a new range of fans and is a large part of why the show is so popular. His quick wit and biting sarcasm have helped set the tone for the show and often leave guests speechless. In addition, he has been active this year as one of the temporary hosts of “Weekly Idol” and has started hosting other shows as well.
Kyuhyun has long since established himself as one of the best young hosts in the variety world, modeling himself after mentor Kim Gura. He is one of the set cast members for the extremely popular show “Radio Star,” showing why his dry sense of humor and sly wittiness has earned him the title of “Evil Maknae” in Super Junior. Although his “Radio Star” cast mates have been professional hosts or comedians for years, Kyuhyun isn’t just there to fill an idol role but genuinely contributes to the show with his mischievous sense of humor.
Leeteuk, the leader of Super Junior and experienced MC himself, is one of the busiest idols-turned-hosts in the business. As someone who was mentored by famous Korean host Kang Ho Dong, Leeteuk has been active as an MC almost since his debut. He currently hosts several hit shows, including the International Emmy-nominated program “I See Your Voice,” as well as “Star Show 360” and many more. His soothing voice and confidence on camera has led to him being one of the most in-demand, young MC’s in Korea right now.
Since the beginning of their career, Super Junior was known as “variety-dols” and displayed their various talents on one variety show after another. SM Entertainment began training them at an early age to become well-versed in various fields such as hosting, acting, radio, and more. It is perhaps due to this early training, along with their natural aptitude and well-known work ethic, that the members are still enjoying such success after nearly a dozen years on the scene.
Whatever the reason, it’s pretty clear that the Super Junior members are here to stay.
