Statistics Show Kpop Dominated Twitter In 2016

Twitter has been busy releasing their list of top tweets and keywords for 2016, and it’s clear to everyone that the Korean entertainment industry undoubtedly left their mark on Twitter in 2016!

Twitter Korea released their own statistics, showing how Kpop totally dominated their categories. Even with the top ten overall keywords for Twitter Korea, Kpop showed that it still takes priority on SNS, despite people in South Korea saying the music is losing popularity. BTS, EXO, GOT7, and TWICE were all in the top ten keywords in the country.

What may comes as a surprise though is the fact that Kpop and Kdramas left their mark on global Twitter as well! “Descendants of the Sun” was the number four most talked about TV program in the entire world. EXO was ranked number ten in the most talked about music topics in the world.

As for the top ten most trending artists in the entire world? Kpop artists took up half the spots on the list, some even ranking higher than artists like Beyonce! EXO was ranked as the number one most talked about artist in the world! Also on the list were Jimin, Jungkook and Jin of BTS and BamBam of GOT7.
