On 19th October at 6 PM KST, SEVENTEEN released their special album called Semicolon as well as the music video for the title song, “HOME;RUN”!
The music video appeals to the retro-swing sensibility which is proving to be a trend in K-pop, coupled with SEVENTEEN’s characteristic charm. The video switches between black and white and technicolor while the song gives off a vintage and energetic vibe. Its lyrics convey an affirmative message of unwavering support to the youth as they keep on going.
The album contains six songs including “HOME;RUN,” “Do Re Mi,” “HEY BUDDY,” “Light A Flame,” “AH! LOVE,” and “All My Love.” All of which carries a mature message of hope for the youth.
Regarding the significance of the name of the album, Jeonghan said that, “This album, ‘; [Semicolon],’ is expressed with the punctuation mark ‘semicolon’ in hopes that it will be time to breathe for a while for the youth who is running hard at this moment.”
Woozi added by saying that, “Special album’; [Semicolon]’ is about the youth of various eras through various genres of music such as swing genre, retro-punk, Latin and bossa nova so more people will be able to sympathize and enjoy it.”
SEVENTEEN’s “Semicolon” exceeded 1.1 million pre-order sales thus producing another “million-seller” after their seventh EP, “Henggarae.”
