After a long, hard time, Park Yoochun‘s accusers have been sentenced to prison for false accusation and blackmail.
In 2016, a young woman claimed that she was sexually assaulted by Mr. Park in the bathroom of an adult club. Along with her boyfriend and a gang member by the name of Mr. Hwang, they approached C-JeS Entertainment in an effort to extort money. When the label refused to give them money, they threatened to go public with the claims. The company still refused to give in to their claims, so the trio filed a case in court. However, they later relented and admitted that the claims against the JYJ singer were false.
Mr. Hwang was sentenced to two years and six months in prison. The woman’s boyfriend was sentenced to one year and six months in prison, and the young woman in question was sentenced to two years in prison.
The judge in charge of the trial stated that even after the woman left the bathroom after the alleged assault, she stayed with Park Yoochun’s friends to drink and hang out. Even after the idol left the club, she was seen chatting and laughing happily, evidently in a good mood, further proving that she had not just undergone a sexual assault.
He went on to say, “Because of this incident, through which Park Yoochun was painted as a sexual offender, he, in addition to economic damages, received irreparable damage to his public image, and now his future as a celebrity is uncertain. Considering the fact that the defendants made no efforts to right their wrongs and consistently offered the same, ridiculous excuses, they are deserving of severe punishment.”
In addition to the accuser of Park Yoochun, the woman who has accused singer Kim Hyun Joong of abuse was also called into account this week in court. After investigation into the matter, the young woman was indicted on charges of defamation and fraud.
After a series of people have recently come out with false accusations against celebrities in an attempt to gain money, it seems the Korean courts are finally fed up and have decided to crack down on those who bring false charges.
