Nam Tae Hyun Officially Leaves WINNER And YG Entertainment

More sad news for the YG family— Nam Tae Hyun has officially left WINNER and the YG Entertainment label.

After it was recently reported that the singer was temporarily withdrawing from the music scene due to some mental health issues, YG has announced that the change has become permanent. On November 18th, the singer’s contract with YG was officially canceled, signaling the end of his time with the group WINNER and with the label itself.

In a statement from the label, they went in to full details of why the decision was made. Read the statement below, with full English translation courtesy of Soompi:

“After lengthy discussions with Nam Tae Hyun, it was judged that it would be difficult for him to continue activities through WINNER. His exclusive contract got cancelled on November 18.

The remaining members made his health and recovery the priority and hoped for improvement, but it’s difficult to say when he will recover and return because it’s a psychological issue he has dealt with since he was young.

Although Nam Tae Hyun cannot be with WINNER now, we hope that they will be colleagues who support each other’s future individual music activities. WINNER will not gain a new member and will remain as a 4-member group. We ask for a lot of support four members of WINNER who will make a new start and for Nam Tae Hyun.”

We are saddened to see the end of his career in WINNER, but we hope that Nam Tae Hyun will be able to concentrate fully on his health and make a full recovery very soon. We at WTK wish him the very best of luck!
