LISTEN: LAY Zhang Sparks A Passionate Summer Affair With “BOOM” Pre-Release Track

EXO‘s LAY Zhang is here to conquer once more!

The multitalented Chinese star has dropped a new pre-release single called “Boom” to amp up the anticipation for the second part of his upcoming album, LIT.

Released throughout international music platforms on July 9th at 1 a.m. KST and on Korean music sites a few hours later at 12 p.m. KST, the song is about an unbridled attraction to someone he deems a rare find.

“Boom,” like all twelve tracks on his EP entitled LIT, is co-composed, co-written, and co-arranged by LAY himself. The reveal of the track indicates the drawing conclusion of the album which aims to connect two separate cultures and two different sounds.

The singer teamed up with Grammy Award-winning producer and songwriter Scott Storch for the second part of LIT to create a seamless blend of Hip-Hop and Mandopop. Together, they managed to develop a masterpiece that symbolizes the LAY’s growth as an artist and the journey he went through in order to stand where he is now.

LAY, real name Zhang Yixing, debuted in the music industry with K-pop powerhouse EXO in 2012. He ventured out as a soloist with “Lose Control” in 2016 and reached new heights as the highest-ranked Mandopop star on Billboard 200 with NAMANANA in 2018. This subsequently made him the first Chinese artist to enter the iTunes Top 60.

He partnered up with Western artists Steve Aoki and will.i.am earlier this year for the cross-cultural collaboration single entitled “Love You More.” In addition, LAY had also stirred up much excitement with the release of his music videos for “Jade” and “Lit” in May.

She’s been cold and sleepy these past few days, wondering if she really needs to go to work. Being poor and asleep sounds more and more appealing by the moment. But there are cats to feed so too bad for her.
