Exactly one month since the DUSTIN sub-unit’s debut with “0 (Young),” JJ, Bel, and Daon are back as DUSTIN-ON “0 (Young) Part 2” on September 17th KST.
The single includes two monster tracks, “You (JJ’s Theme)” and “NG (Bel’s Theme),” showcasing the members’ intrepid musical instincts and outstanding rap and vocal skills. Youngest member Daon appears on both tracks, further exploring his husky voice and fierce tone that was present on the unit’s debut last month.
“You” is JJ’s new jack swing, R&B hip-hop solo song. It was composed and written by JJ and Bel. The autobiographical track talks directly to the different personality we show online, wanting to gradually overcoming this personality with who we really are instead of meeting other people’s standards.
It has a guitar as the main instrument and contains a simple, four-bit drum and repeated bass lines, making the overall mood of the song straightforward and modern.
Secondly, “NG” is main rapper Bel’s solo track— written, composed, and arranged entirely by himself. It is an alternative hip-hop song with a powerful bass, an addictive and theatrical violin sound, and stadium, rock-like elements. The passionate lyrics strike a chord by saying, “you lazy people who don’t do anything are all NG (no good).”
Last month, to coincide with the sub-unit’s debut, the boys announced a special event for fans. If the music video for “0 (Young)” reached 200,000 views, the group’s company LPA Entertainment pledged to release a physical version of the album.
DUSTIN’s loyal fandom (“THESTAN”) are working hard to make this possible, but they still need help. Many have even reached out to other fandoms online hoping to gain support from the wider K-pop community. If our readers would like to help, you can watch and share the “0 (Young)” MV here!
