Korean Variety Show “I Can See Your Voice” Nominated For International Emmy Award

The popular South Korean show “I Can See Your Voice” has officially become an Emmy-nominated program!

The International Emmy Awards nominated the show in the category of “Non-Scripted Entertainment.” The program began only one year ago on Mnet and is hosted by Super Junior member Leeteuk, comedian Yoo Seyoon, and R&B singer Kim Bumsoo.

The basis of the reality show is to see if a panel of judges and professional singers can choose the “real” singers out of a group of people based only on their looks. Out of a large group, some of the people are true singers, while others are tone-deaf. If a tone-deaf contestant is chosen as the “real” singer at the end and able to trick the judges, then they win a 5 million won prize. If an actual singer is chosen at the end, they are able to record their song and release it as a digital single.

The Korean program is going up against three other shows in the same category— programs from the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Sweden. It is a huge honor for the Emmy organization to have recognized the hard work of this Korean program and nominated them for the award. It will be an even bigger accomplishment if the show is able to win.

The International Emmy Awards are to be held November 21st in New York City. Two other South Korean projects have been nominated as well— “Splash, Splash Love” has been nominated as one of the best TV movies in 2016, while “Mom & Clarinet” has been nominated as one of the best documentaries.

Congratulations to the cast and crew of “I Can Hear Your Voice,” as well as these other amazing projects. What The Kpop wishes them all luck in their respective categories and hopes they will find success when the winners are announced.
