K-pop Songs With The Same Title But Different Moods

A song title is one of the things that appeals to listeners! Artists can gain a large scale of followers after releasing their title track.

K-pop artists often write their song title in a simple English word in order to appeal to a broader fanbase. As such, that sometimes means repeating the same title another artist has already used.

Even when this happens, however, artists make sure that their song has a different concept. Below are some examples of songs which have the same titles but different moods.

1) Taeyeon’s “Fine and NU’EST’s “Fine

Taeyeon‘s lovely song entitled “Fine” is a pop song that proved to be a great hit around the world. It talks about the hardships of moving on and still not being fine despite realizing it’s over. On the other hand, a pop song with the same title is “Fine” by NU’EST. This song talks about how fine everything is when placed in your lover’s hands. Everywhere is a good place when this couple is together.

2) SEVENTEEN’s “Together” and JB & Jiyeon’s “Together

SEVENTEEN is known as self-producing idols. Their song “Together” talks about their friendship and how they want to be together even after their youth comes to an end. “Together” is also an OST from “Dream High 2” in which GOT7‘s JB and T-ARA‘s Jiyeon appeared. It reminisces about the precious moments they spent walking the same path together.

3) Chungha’s “Bad Boy” and Red Velvet’s “Bad Boy

This underrated song of Chungha really shows her badass side. She delivers strong power towards her cheating boy as she is sick of his excuses and sad faces. Nobody can fool Chungha! On the other hand, Red Velvet is known for spreading happiness through their cute and lovely gestures. However, on their track “Bad Boy,” they show a fierce and sexy side. The girls prove they’re not an easy target by taking all the bad boys down.

4) 2NE1’s “Missing You” and BTOB’s “Missing You

This song of 2NE1 talks about how it’s time to move on. They realize that it’s all just a game and everything has ended between the lovers. However, they are still missing each other at the end. However, “Missing You” by BTOB is a heartbreaking song about not being able to move on. It really hurts to reminisce about all of the things they did together, but the singer still spends his day thinking about his ex and missing them.

5) Taeyang’s “Wake Me Up” and B.A.P’s “Wake Me Up”

Taeyang‘s gorgeous song “Wake Me Up” actually carries the opposite message of not wanting to be woken up. He sings of being in a dream with the one he loves and the world being so perfect that he is too scared to wake up and face reality. However, B.A.P’s powerful anthem is a cry to wake up to the social injustices of this world and force yourself to confront the pain inside in order to take on the problems around you.

BONUS:
“Monster”
EXO, Super Junior, BIGBANG, IRENE & SEULGI, Henry Lau, and SuperM

For a special bonus, we included six songs that all have the same title of “Monster.” Each one has a different story and different concept. In fact, they each have a very different sound as well.

EXO‘s song is about being so enraptured by someone that you suddenly turn in to another person who can barely control their feelings. “I’ll flip you over, break you down and swallow you up, I’ll steal you and indulge in you, I’m gonna mess you up,” the song promises.

“Monster” by Super Junior is about becoming unrecognizable after a terrible break up. The person treated you badly, yet you can’t move on. You grow resentful, yet you know you look like a fool. So, is the monster actually them or you?

BIGBANG‘s “Monster” talks about going through a break up and the other person expecting you to be fine and therefore just brushing you off. However, the singer tries to tell their former lover that they have feelings despite seeming tough. After all, they’re not a monster with no heart.

Red Velvet‘s IRENE & SEULGI stole the hearts of many with this great song, which is perfect since that is what the lyrics are all about! “I’m a little monster, be scared of me. I’m bothering you, making you dream only about me. I’ll dance and play as I cast a spell.”

Henry Lau‘s song “Monster” talks about the person they love who lies and can’t be honest in their relationship. Although he stills loves her, he says that he can’t lie and pretend it’s all ok just to make their relationship work since he’s not a monster, hinting that she is the real monster of the two for doing just that.

“Monster” by SuperM is actually more well known in the combo song “ONE (Monster & Infinity)” The track “Monster” is a song of bravado about taking on a battle without fear. Because you’ve been through a lot and come out stronger, you know that you can win this battle too.

This list shows that K-pop songs can be varied and different as long as each artist strives to have unique ways of delivering their messages to fans. It is definitely a great achievement to release a track that has its own identity as this becomes an emblem and milestone of what an artist did for their fans.
