Actor Jo In Sung has been confirmed to star in the historical film “Ansi City: Fortress of Abandoned People.”
On May 4th KST, it was confirmed that Jo In Sung would be starring in the upcoming historical film.
The film is a large scale historical venture that will be based the siege on Ansi Fortress by the Tang Taizong army. Jo In Sung will play General Yang Manchun, the righteous Goryeo commander who defends the fortress along with Goryeo soldiers. Through this role, audiences will see the actor’s tough charisma and historical action sequences.
Jo In Sung noted, “The powerful message of Ansi City, a look back at history, and a strong, wise leader-figure were all so well integrated into the scenario that I was pleased to join the film. Just imagining the battle scenes that will be brought to the screen increased my anticipation for this project,” showing his enthusiasm.
Studio & New, a subsidiary of contents media group New, which brought us hits like 2016’s “Descendants of the Sun,” the zombie film “Train To Busan,” tear-jerker “Miracle in Cell No. 7,” and more, will be taking on this project as their first film this year. The budget is an estimated 15 billion won (approximately $13.2 million USD) and is to be directed by Kim Kwang Sik. The remaining cast is to be finalized during the first half of the year and filming is to start in August with the release planned for 2018.
