After news broke that Hoya had decided to leave INFINITE and Woollim Entertainment, the singer and actor went on to release a handwritten letter via his Instagram.

“Hello, this is Hoya.
I would like to apologize for the worry I have caused. I would also like to apologize to the fans who have grown tired from waiting for such a long time.
I would like to ask for your understanding for not being able to say anything for a long time. I wanted to let you know myself first [but thought I should wait for the announcement].
I have had so many worries about the words I should say to you.
First, to our INFINITE members.
To Sunggyu hyung, Dongwoo hyung, Woohyun, Sungyeol, Myungsoo, and Sungjong, I would like to say once again that I am sorry and I thank you all.
I know that I was lacking in many ways and only due to being with the INFINITE members was I able to receive such love from our Inspirit. I will never forget that. I will cherish the warm hearts of Inspirits’ love.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Lee Jong Yeob and all the Woollim staff who have fully supported me and built me up into the place [where I currently stand].
I will work hard in the future with a modest attitude.
I apologize again for worrying so many people.
