Government Corporation To Release Commemorative Medal In Honor Of EXO

EXO will soon receive an important honor!

The government-owned Korea Minting, Security Printing & ID Card Operating Corporation (KOMSCO) will be releasing an official commemorative medal in honor of EXO. The corporation is owned by the government and is in charge of printing and minting all the currency in South Korea, as well as other official government documents such as passports and stamps. In addition, KOMSCO recently made the medals for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

A representative stated that they would be honoring EXO as the group at the center of the Hallyu Wave. The top honor will be issued in April, making EXO the first Kpop artist to ever have a medal issued in their honor. The representative stated that the faces of all nine members would be engraved on one side, with the medal having a serial number and warranty card which will increase the value.

“We hope that K-pop and the Korean Wave will [continue to] be spread globally through the worldwide release of EXO’s official commemorative medal,” the representative stated.

Upon release of the news, EXO’s various achievements in the music industry came to light once more. Not only were they recently invited to perform as the closing act of the closing ceremonies at the Olympics, the group is an official quadruple million seller, with four of their albums selling more than a million copies each. EXO has also taken home many grand prize awards in their field, including winning Album of the Year for five consecutive years at the Mnet Asian Music Awards. Overall, the group has won a total of 147 different awards at various year-end awards shows such as Melon Music Awards and Golden Disc Awards. This astounding number does not, however, even include their 100+ wins at different music shows.

Congratulations to EXO on such an amazing honor!
