Global girl group XG (short for Xtraordinary Girls) has announced their first comeback with the single, “MASCARA”!
Dropping on June 29th at midnight KST (with the music video set to be revealed later at 6 p.m.), the empowering new song aims to give confidence to its listener through XG’s fearless and bold heart.
The group’s March 2022 debut “Tippy Toes” reached over 16 million views on YouTube and the song resonated so strongly with fans that physical copies of the single sold out in less than 48 hours.
As the first artist under international entertainment company XGALX, the seven members have transcended the barriers between K-pop and J-pop. Due to their original style and unique energy, XG goes against many girl group tropes.
Before their debut, it was revealed that Simon from K-pop boy group DMTN has spent the last five years producing an upcoming idol girl group that would be known as XG. Various videos were posted on the XG YouTube Channel and showcased the girls’ impressive vocal, dance, and rap performances. Other videos gave insight into the number of trainees at the beginning of the project and how it was all trimmed down into the final line-up as we now know them.
Jurin, Chisa, Harvey, Hinata, Juria, Maya, and Cocona all hail from Japan. It has also been confirmed that Hikaru (currently of project group Kep1er) will be joining XG as their eighth member once the winning team from “Girls Planet 999” ends their contract.
