EXO’s Suho Steals Viewers’ Hearts Through Appearance On “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”

EXO‘s Suho has stolen the hearts of many through his recent appearance on “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”!

On the April 17th episode of the popular show, Suho appeared to talk about the release of his first solo album, Self-Portrait. With his handsome looks, charming personality, great voice, and reserved, respectful manner, Suho delighted viewers at home.

Suho spoke about the title track from his album. Entitled “Let’s Love,” the song is derived from EXO’s motto and is a phrase in Korean that Suho himself made up. He revealed that the song is a story about loving a regardless of having scars. Suho also talked about the album in general, revealing that he had been inspired after seeing Vincent Van Gogh’s self-portrait in Paris. Seeing some of Van Gogh’s personal tale told through art, Suho decided he wanted to tell his own personal story through music and thus worked on the album for a year.

After talking about his album and performing the title track “Let’s Love,” Suho then performed “Vain Hope” from the popular indie rock band NELL. As NELL is a beloved band in Korea, Suho’s great performance of the popular song was well-received due to his emotional delivery and well-supported vocals that speak of his professional training as a singer.

Suho was then asked about his experience as a musical actor where he went on to talk about how he starred in “The Man Who Smiles.” He revealed that he had studied acting in university, so when he was in “The Man Who Smiles, he became very happy for being able to do so many things he loved at once: acting, singing, dancing, and meeting his fans. After discussing it some more, Suho then performed a portion of “Open Your Eyes,” one of the songs from the musical. Showing off a different style of singing, Suho delivered a heartfelt and excellent performance, earning praise from Yoo Hee Yeol himself, who is also a well-known and well-respected musician. Upon finishing the performance and reverting out of the show’s character, Suho grew shy once more as Yoo Hee Yeol praised him.

In addition to other things, Suho also spoke about how he has now spent the majority of his life in music. At 28 years of age in Western reckoning, Suho just celebrated his eighth anniversary with EXO (meaning that he is in his ninth full year of work). In addition, he trained for almost seven years at SMTOWN before making his debut, meaning that he has been in music for almost 16 years now. He spoke to host Yoo Hee Yeol about it all, “I became a trainee in my third year of middle school and trained for around six and a half years. I am so happy that I was able to debut as a part of EXO and to have met EXO-L. My career as a singer has now just blended into my life I think. Instead of thinking of myself as a special person, I just think I am a person with a special job.”
