DAY6‘s Young K is the star of a solo photoshoot and interview for the October issue of Allure Korea!
On September 23rd KST, a preview of the photoshoot was released, showing the handsome young star in casual-chic outfits made of mixed pieces from modern brands to luxurious, classic labels. In the first look, he sports classic, black loafers and a black, turtleneck sweater from Prada, along with distressed, brown denim pants from Dries Van Noten. In another look, he is seen wearing a sequined bomber jacket by Kim Seo Ryong Homme, denim pants by Calvin Klein Jeans, and chelsea boots by Tod’s. Throughout the various looks, more accessories by Prada, Judy And Paul, Converse, East Ice, and more are seen.
In the interview itself, Allure magazine talks to the singer about everything from his position as a DJ on the program Kiss The Radio to how he felt as a student first getting started in the music business. As far as continuing to study while still promoting as a member of DAY6, he stated that he first decided to do so since he only had two years of school left and thought he needed a degree to fall back on. However, looking back, he realized that it was a good experience that allowed him to experience a normal school life and meet people that he wouldn’t have met within the music industry.
The magazine mentioned that Young K has almost 150 songs that he has written or participated in writing for (in fact, he has 148 songs registered to him under the copyright association in Korea). As such, they wondered if there were ever song lyrics he admired that were written by someone else.
He responded by saying, “There are several. One of PD Park Jin Young‘s lyrics that inspired me the most was ‘How To Avoid The Sun.’ The way it was expressed was interesting. The lyrics of the song ‘Uphill Road’ written by Yoon Jong Shin begins with the words, ‘The laughter will disappear from now on,’ so it was impressive to tell the story of life while expressing its uphill road. Also, I like the song ‘Lost In Perspective’ (Korean title: 3인칭의 필요성, translated as ‘the need of a third person’) by Nell sunbaenim. It describes the need for a third person, but the words never appear directly in the lyrics.”
In early September, the talented singer-songwriter released his first solo mini-album, Eternal. As such, the magazine also spoke with him about his new music and asked what motivated him concerning the feeling of the album.
He replied, “It’s more romantic than desperate. Young K and Kang Young Hyun1 have in common [the word] young. That spirit is ‘Eternal’. After the title song was decided, the album name was decided. In [the title song] ‘Guard You (끝까지 안아 줄게),’ I thought about, ‘Where is the end…?’ The conclusion I reached was, ‘I wish the end would never come.’ It [also] has something to do with my name, so I decided to call it ‘Eternal.'”

The singer also went on to talk about his October military enlistment into the KATUSA program and how this is likely his final photoshoot and music release of his 20’s.
“I worked hard and had fun,” he stated. “It’s the last fall of my 20’s. Young K, I am twenty-nine.”
