Cube Entertainment has given fans an update on the contract renewal status for Jang Hyunseung and BEAST.
In April of 2016, Hyunseung left the idol group BEAST to pursue a career as a solo artist. Despite leaving the group, he didn’t leave the company.
With their contracts about to expire, there was a lot of speculation about who would stay with the company and who would leave, about BEAST possibly forming their own agency, etc. When the contracts finally expired in October, it was widely acknowledged that Jang Hyunseung would continue with the Cube Entertainment, but BEAST would be leaving as a group. However, a statement from the label said that things had not been settled, and they were still working on the contract renewal process.
For the first time since then, the label has finally spoken out publicly to give fans an update:
“Jang Hyun Seung has signed an exclusive contract with Cube. We will be providing him with lots of support and assistance so that he moves one step forward as a mature artist… Jang Hyun Seung’s renewal and BEAST’s contract situation are two different stories. We are continuously offering BEAST proposals and are currently in a position of waiting.”
Although their statement of “continuously offering BEAST proposals” somewhat contradicts previous reports, all fans can do know is wait and see how things turn out.
