Buzzfeed Photoshops Staff Members To Fit Korean Beauty Standards Of Today

Given the amount of plastic surgery performed in South Korea, Buzzfeed brings the topic of beauty standards to the table with their newest video.

Three Buzzfeed staff members of Korean heritage, Eugene, Ashly, and Maggie, had the opportunity to chat with Dr. Hsu, a certified plastic surgeon located in Beverley Hills, California. Dr. Hsu gave the three his evaluation on what areas of their face could be altered and changed in order to better suit the ideal beauty standards in Korea. These changes primarily revolved around double eyelids and a V-line shaped face (to name a few). The three also shared their history and struggle with beauty standards that they have faced due to being a member of the Korean community.

Although the video has Buzzfeed’s typical humor, there is also some very obvious tension among the three participants. As such, viewers might not be sure how to react to the changes seen after the staff members get photoshopped per the suggestions by Dr. Hsu.

Check out the video and tell us what you think about these Korean beauty standards. Do you find plastic surgery acceptable? Is it something you would consider? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
