BTS Holds Live Interview With Billboard On Facebook

In the wake of the U.S. leg of their world tour, Big Hit Entertainment‘s top boy group, BTS, recently went live on Billboard‘s Facebook account for a mini interview.

The members playfully answered a batch of fan questions and also gave their thoughts on their worldwide success— success that came in the form of 43 hits on the World Digital Song Chart, three #1 albums on the Billboard World Album Chart, and being the only Kpop group to have a Top 40 album on the Billboard Hot 200 Chart. To add to their achievements, the group is also tied for most #1 songs of all time on the World Digital Album Chart with fellow Kpop artist PSY.

When asked how they felt about those impressive achievements, leader Rap Monster smiled and responded saying that it felt like a miracle.

The same amazement could be seen when the group was asked about their ticket sales for their U.S. stops. Rap Monster happily revealed that when they heard tickets sold out in five minutes, everyone was surprised and couldn’t believe it. He goes on to explain that they never expected to sell out stadiums in the U.S. They always hoped to do so, but actually realizing it happened felt insane, and the rate which tickets sold out was even crazier.

Their level of popularity still seems to be a shock to the idol group, though they’ve entertained fans from all over the globe— most recently in South America.

When the boys were asked about their recent concert in Brazil, Rap Monster was all smiles, saying they had a great time because they received tons of love. The other members comically added that it was very hot.

Fans also got to know how Rap Monster got his name. It was apparently a line in one of his pre-debut songs that quickly became a nickname that stuck.

The rapper also touches on his recent collaboration with American rapper Wale. It all came about when a fan introduced Wale to a freestyle Rap Monster did when he was 19 where he’d used an instrumental from Wale’s song “LSD.” After both parties had several exchanges on SNS, they were determined to make a collaboration happen.

Rap Monster shares that the duo didn’t want to do just another party song or a love song— they wanted to talk about real issues since Korea and the United States are both going through cultural and political strife. They wanted to speak on something current and impactful.

Rap Monster goes on to express that BTS likes making that type of music as well. They want to make relatable music, especially for the youth, because they know that everyone goes through the same things no matter where they’re from.

The video isn’t all serious. In fact, most of the interview is light hearted, especially when the group was asked what they wanted to do now that they’re in America. Both V and J-Hope answered joyfully that they wanted to go shopping as they broke out into a mini, shuffle dance.

Though the interview is short, fans get answers to a vast amount of questions, ranging from who the group thinks is the best singer to their favorite artists in different genres.
