Seungri of BIGBANG has announced his retirement from the entertainment industry.
On March 11th, the famous star took to his Instagram account to write a letter to fans, announcing that he would be retiring from the business. He expressed that his decision is due to the current social controversy about the club “Burning Sun” and all the subsequent rumors that have been running rampant on social media and in the Korean news.
In the brief note, he went on to talk about how he had been being hated on for a month-and-a-half now and he didn’t want it to continue and hurt those around him. As such, he is pulling out of the business.
He also admitted that he is currently being investigated for the case but that he will continue to cooperate so the truth can come out.
He closed his letter by thanking both his domestic fans and international fans for their unfailing support and love over the years, as well as apologizing for the recent problems. His last statement said that his decision to remove himself is because he doesn’t want to do damage to BIGBANG and YG, so he is retiring for their sake. He then apologized once more.
In the meantime, the military has said that Seungri’s enlistment will not be postponed and he can continue to cooperate with the investigation during his service.
With Seungri’s announcement of retirement, it is certainly the end of the era for one of the most legendary and influential K-pop groups in the world!
