Back In Time: Our Top 10 Favorite Songs By Lee Hyori

It’s Writer Min here, and we’re back with another addition to our back in time segment. Today, we will be talking about Kpop’s sexy, beautiful queen— Lee Hyori!

Many of you know Hyori from her days as a member of Fin.K.L, a highly successful 90s girl group in Kpop. She made her solo debut in 2004, and by 2006, she became the highest paid female artist in Korea. Despite getting married and taking a break for a while, she has remained a very successful solo singer and is set to make her return later this year— nearly 20 years after her original idol debut!

To celebrate this amazing diva, we’ve put together a list of our top 10 favorite songs by the one and only Lee Hyori.

#10 – “Hey Mr. Big”

Hyori is known for her sexy concept, and it definitely shows in this song! I also love the message of this song as she essentially tells a guy, “If you are such a big shot, come confess your love.” The song became a huge hit in 2008. The song is super catchy, and the music video speaks for itself.

#9 – “Anyclub Part 1”

In this music video, we see a mini drama. Hyori’s character gets involved in some guy’s scheme, and she almost get killed. I liked the fact Eric Mun from Shinhwa played a part and even used the Shinhwa logo. You can also hear Teddy in this track as a feature. With this funky sound, anyone can dance to this track.

#8 – “10 Minutes”

“10 Minutes” marked Hyori’s official solo debut. The music video shows the diva’s dancing skills, and you can hear her amazing voice, despite the fact that it has improved a lot since then. She was also so pretty here, and you can see why she became known as the “Nation’s Fairy.” This song marked the beginning of a new era for the singer.

#7 – “Hey Girl”

When this song was released, it was playing on the radio a lot! I have to say that Hyori did a great job on this song and really added her own style. Check out her sexy moves!

#6 – “U-Go-Girl”

The song is one of my favorites! We have all had those times where we don’t feel attractive. Although the song has a fun, girl power message in the song, it also sends mixed signals by promoting plastic surgery. When I first saw it, it was a big shock for me. The song is encouraging girls to be confident, regardless of the risks, but at the same time, it promotes changing your looks to fit the mold of what others consider attractive. All in all though, it’s still a fun, catchy song!

#5 – “ChittyChitty BangBang”

Aliens are taking over the world!!! And the alien in charge is none other than Queen Hyori. This song topped charts, and she even went on to win in music shows. The song shows a different side of Hyori. The dance looks on point, and she rocked the blonde wig. Through this song, the sexy diva showed she can do anything!

#4 – “Miss Korea”

In 2013, Hyori made her long-awaited comeback with the album Monochrome, and one of the title tracks from this album was “Miss Korea.” I loved the vintage vibe of the video, and she looked beautiful dressed up as a glamorous Miss Korea. She also added the black and white flair to the music video, which turned out to look amazing.

#3 – “Amor Mio”

The song is beautiful and amazing! I love the fact that the track was both produced and created by Lee Hyori herself. It tells about a sad breakup and showed that Lee Hyori even has great skills as a producer as well. It is a duet with the great Park Jiyong of Honey-G, who also played the piano for the song.

#2 – “Going Crazy”

As the title suggests, this song is about a woman going crazy! I like the fact that she dressed up like a man and was confident enough to show off different concepts. The music video is cute and funny at the same time, and the song is a lot of fun as well.

#1 – “Bad Girls”

I love this catchy song and found the music video very amusing! Despite the fun tone of the MV, it also sends out a few important messages as well. For example, we see the injustice of Hyori not being taken seriously during a job interview as the men were staring at her like hungry wolves. The video was deemed inappropriate by officials and was banned in some places, but that didn’t stop Hyori from winning “Best Female Artist” during the 2013 MAMAS.

It doesn’t matter if you became a fan of Lee Hyori when she was a member of Fin.K.L or until her “Bad Girls” days, we can all agree that this sexy diva has added a lot to Kpop and is always lots of fun! No matter how much time passes, this beautiful Queen will keep on slaying hearts of fans everywhere.
