This week in Hongdae, the largest music showcase festival in Korea was held! If you heeded the advice of What The Kpop as to why this is a must-attend event for music fans, then you were one of the lucky fans at the Zandari Festa and able to hear some of the most amazing indie bands from around the globe.
However, not everyone lives in Korea or is able to travel there for every awesome music event. Thankfully, WTK was able to attend the event as press and able to bring our readers coverage of these wonderful artists. With over 140 artists performing at Zandari Festa this year, it’s impossible for fans to attend every show throughout the long weekend. However, WTK made sure to take pictures of some of your favorite indie artists in order to get an inside look at this amazing festival.
The event was held September 29th-October 1st at various venues around Hongdae, the ultimate indie scene in Seoul. Not only did some of Korea’s best artists perform, but there were special guests and musicians from all over the world. This year, people from a total of 22 different countries performed, coming from places like Singapore, Canada, France, and more!
The festival is a unique experience with multiple shows happening simultaneously at different venues in Hongdae. From small, intimate venues that allow you to focus solely on the stage to larger, brighter venues that felt more like a club, each showcase was different. From jazz bands to rock bands, the artists were able to provide their own unique vibe during their sets, thrilling fans in attendance and offering everyone such an eclectic mixture of music that people were bound to be pleased, no matter what their favorite genre was.
WTK was able to attend multiple shows throughout the event, including the concerts for Aseul, Neon Bunny, Idiotape, Howaho, and The Barbarettes. We were even able to meet Aseul, who proved to be just as lovely and gracious in real life as you would expect.
Check out some of the pictures below, and make sure to start planning your trip for next year! With such amazing opportunities and some of the best music from around the world, this is one music festival that you definitely don’t want to miss out on.
