Bad news for GOT7— member Choi Youngjae has been hospitalized for his back injury.
On April 20th KST, it was revealed that the singer had to be taken to the hospital for his ongoing back problems and is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, the rest of GOT7 is in Australia for Australian fan meeting tour. As a result, JYP Entertainment made an announcement and said he would not be able to participate in the fan meeting tour after all:
“Due to health concerns, Youngjae will not participate in GOT7 GLOBAL FANMEETING IN AUSTRALIA 2017 on April 20, 21, 23, and 24.
Youngjae is currently being treated for his back injury and recovering in the hospital. Considering his health status, it is difficult for him to participate in the Australia fan meetings, and therefore he decided not to attend.
We sincerely apologize to all of the fans who have been highly anticipating [the fan meetings]. Youngjae’s recovery is now the top priority. Thank you.”
Youngjae has been struggling with his health for a while now, first missing out on activities as early as the summer of 2016 and even missing out on the group’s “Hard Carry” promotions later that year.
Health professionals have often spoken on Korean TV about the stress idols have on their backs due to the constant dancing and schedules. When someone develops an injury to their back, it can make full recovery extremely difficult unless they have total, extended rest.
We wish Youngjae the best of luck and hope he gets the rest he needs in order to recover completely!
