WATCH: GYUBIN Is The Light Surrounding You In “Satellite” MV

Five months after her debut, rising artist GYUBIN is back with her second single “Satellite” on June 26th at 12 p.m KST!

The colorful and bright pop song begins with a refreshing guitar riff — reminiscent of early 00s pop/rock singer-songwriters — before leading to the grand atmosphere of a bouncy band sound.

GYUBIN’s vocal versatility stands out against the large-scale musical dynamics present in the track, as her performance shifts between delicate, angelic tones to powerhouse delivery.

“Satellite” has the feeling of an uplifting anthem and captures the confusion, worry, and comfort behind the bright teenage face, which GYUBIN can relate to personally at just 17 years old herself.

The young artist shared her thoughts about the track within the single’s description on Korean music sites.

When I listen to the song, I’m overwhelmed by the magnificent sound of the vocals and instruments, and the lyrics in the verses remind me of all the nights I’ve spent with my head in the clouds and nowhere to turn, and then the catchy hook and soaring bridge give me the courage to move forward. It’s a mysterious song that, depending on the listener’s mind, can evoke a variety of pictures, such as the stars and satellites in the night sky, the vastness of space, and the cool summer breeze. With less than half of the year left, time is flying by and I’ve been thinking a lot about my journey through my teenage years and the new 20s, and I’ve come to realise that the true beginnings of life’s journeys are always first and foremost ‘me’ and knowing that gives me the faith to mask my fears.

To our most precious child hiding like a shadow,
Let’s leave behind the sorry past that we didn’t do well, with the promise and determination to be your ‘Satellite’ now.
I will quietly hover by your side, delivering messages of comfort and love that shines on the day.

The music video was filmed on location in Serbia, Europe, and captures the vastness of the country’s nature and picturesque scenery breathtakingly. It takes the viewer on a journey with GYUBIN as we follow her search for the meteor that fell at the end of her previous MV, “Really Like You.”

The second single Satellite contains the title track in both Korean and English. It also includes an instrumental version.
