KATSEYE is finally here!
On June 28th, the rookie group introduced their first song along with its music video, “Debut.”
The song has a bright lively beat with bold lyrics that express a confident go-getting spirit. It was written by Ryan Tedder, Tyler Spry, Grant Boutin, and Omer Fedi. Ryan Tedder, Tyler Spry, and Grant Boutin also produced the track.
“Debut” is accompanied by a music video directed by Gregory Ohrel. Meanwhile, Humberto Leon acted as the creative director and João Moraes took charge as the visual director.
KATSEYE was formed through the reality program “The Debut: Dream Academy,” a collaboration between Hybe UMG and Geffen Records. The show ran from September to November 2023 and aimed to create a group that would promote in the United States.
The final line-up consisted of Daniela, Lala, Manon, Megan, Sophia, and Yunchae. KATSEYE will soon be back to launch their mini-album, SIS (Soft Is Strong) on August 16th.

Katherine grew up watching Korean dramas and other Asian shows. Although she first learned to appreciate Korean music through OSTs broadcasted locally, it wasn’t until 2011 that she properly paid attention to K-pop. She holds a fondness for SEVENTEEN and NCT and would recommend (G)I-DLE, Dreamcatcher, and XG to whoever cared to listen. She reads just about anything and is currently easing back into full novels.
