On April 8th at 6 p.m. KST, ONF released their eighth mini-album, Beautiful Shadow, and the music video for the title track, “Bye My Monster.”
The song is a pop dance track that mixes a classical atmosphere and a strong band sound. In a magnificent blend of classic and contemporary sounds, the grand narrative is further maximized by citing themes of “Symphony No. 2, III. Adagio.” The orchestral piece is widely renowned as one of twentieth-century pianist Sergei Rachmaninoff‘s most popular compositions.
It was written and composed by Hwang Hyun of MonoTree, who has worked with ONF since their 2017 debut. Additionally, ONF’s resident deep-voice rapper Wyatt participated in penning the lyrics.
Each member’s lyrics are connected by a long breath, completing a story and enhancing ONF’s unique color. Meanwhile, the lyrical yet powerful vocals, rap, and harmonies blend seamlessly to create a dramatic immersion.
The music video for “Bye My Monster” is quintessential ONF. It features movie-like visuals and cinematic effects along with an effortless performance of narrative-driven choreography that highlights the group’s synergy.
Beautiful Shadow contains five songs including “Aphrodite” which ONF’s own MK participated in composing, and “Slave To The Rhythm” an addictive house song co-composed by Wyatt.
