MONSTA X‘s Joohoney has finally made his solo debut!
On May 22nd at 6 p.m. KST, the singer launched his first solo mini-album along with a music video for its title track, “FREEDOM.”
Co-written, co-composed, and co-arranged by Joohoney himself, the song features a harmonious combination of piano and string melodies paired with hip-hop elements and a majestic choir sound which is, as a whole, an expression of Joohoney’s introspection, his current yearning for liberation, and his resolve for the future.
LIGHTS contains a total of six tracks and, despite him having released several solo songs and mixtapes, marks the artist’s first EP. This results from the singer’s eight years of effort and offers a peek at his “inner voice” in search of his most authentic self.
Joohoney debuted with MONSTA X in May 2015 and has since been serving as the group’s main rapper and producer. He has previously released four mixtapes and a digital single as well as collaborations and OSTs.
