Multifaceted ex-NU’EST member Kim Jonghyeon (JR) made his long-awaited solo debut with the title track “Lights” on November 8th at 6 p.m. KST!
The hip-hop dance song harmonizes various instruments with bright pluck sounds and Vox effects that remind you of bright lights. JR participated in writing the lyrics which express his ambition to pursue freedom like the light and the artist’s many fans who gather together to form a light that shines on him.
“Lights” was composed by dream-pop composer ZOZO, in addition to members of the production team DEFAULT – Note and Nuzy. The song corresponds to the B-side track “Blaze” on Jonghyeon’s first mini-album MERIDIEM which represents running towards the sun at noon. Meanwhile, “Lights” portrays swimming towards the moon and space post-noon which couples as a metaphor for JR’s next chapter as a solo artist.
