This article is my public apology to any readers who were harmed in the making of my “5 Emotional Korean Music Videos That Will Break Your Heart” article. Now, let me take you in the opposite direction and offer you ten delightful music videos that I think many of us could use right now!
1. Jay Park – “So Good“
“So Good” is one of my favorite songs. Everything from the retro sound and Jay’s TLC shirt to the bright colors and radiant smiles brings me happiness and just instantly boosts my mood when it comes on my playlist.
2. WJSN – “Boogie Up“
WJSN’s “Boogie Up” has all the bright colors and summery vibes you need to get into high spirits. This music video is pretty much the epitome of upbeat K-pop. “Boogie Up” makes me want to grab a group of friends and head straight to the local pool for a refreshingly good time.
3. B1A4 – “Solo Day“
For me, B1A4’s discography is synonymous with happiness, but “Solo Day” really stands out. As soon as I hear the iconic whistle from this track, my mood changes for the better and I’m all set to face the rest the day!
4. Twice – “Cheer Up“
I don’t think you can talk about mood-elevating music videos without mentioning Twice’s “Cheer Up.” Considering “Cheer Up” is such an earworm, you are bound to get a little extra bounce in your step as you sing it to yourself throughout the day
5. Taeho – “GGOMA“
Taeho’s “GGOMA,” both the song and its music video, brings a smile to my face when I think about it. “GGOMA” features Choi Yegeun and she helps deliver one of the happiest songs I heard from K-pop in 2021!
6. Playback – “Playback“
Playback’s self-titled debut single, Playback, was an instant hit with many K-pop fans for several good reasons. It’s upbeat; it’s fun; it’s hard to get out of your head. Overall, it makes your entire day better! I’ve had “Playback” on repeat since 2015 and it looks like it will stay that way for a little bit more (pr longer!).
7. AlphaBAT – “Get Your Luv“
Alphabat’s “Get Your Luv” isn’t just a happy song because it signaled the group’s rebirth after a long hiatus and an uncertain future! It also truly embodies the spirit of summer fun. “Get Your Luv” and “Boogie Up” are both summer anthems everyone should check out at least once!
8. Rocket Punch – “Ring Ring“
There’s just something about retro sounds in songs like Rocket Punch‘s “Ring Ring” that lets you know you’re about to have a good time. I don’t know what it is about the first few notes, but it triggers a near-Pavlovian happiness response.
9. LUCY – “Jogging“
I’ll be honest: I’m not sure LUCY makes music. I think they actually make pure happiness. If you’re in need of an emergency serotonin boost, then you can rest assured LUCY’s discography will give it to you. My personal suggestion is definitely to start with their music video for “Jogging.”
10. April – “Oh! my mistake“
What is it about April’s “Oh! my mistake” that creates such a happy feeling? Is it the pink fuzzy TV that I totally need for my own room? Is it those super cute pineapple earrings? Nostalgia triggered by the Motorola Razr phone? I don’t know, and I’m not thinking about it too hard. I’m too caught up with how good the song and its music video are.
When I need it most, I’m just gonna put “Oh! my mistake” and the other nine songs from this article on repeat and indulge in a little bit of self-care (and so should you!).
