WATCH: Former HISTORY Member Song Kyungil Returns As 1iL In “Kurt Coba1iL” MV

On December 3rd KST, former leader of idol boy group HISTORY, Song Kyungil comes back as soloist 1iL with his first digital single, “Kurt Coba1iL.”

The song was written by 1iL and composed the track alongside worldwide producer Gennaro Schiano (who has worked with everyone from Bob Marley to Justin Bieber, and prevalent DJ in the Eurobeat scene Dave Simon and is most known globally for “I Need Your Love,” a song that featured in a first season episode of the anime series “Initial D” in 1998).

Based on an upbeat reggaeton sound, the track utilizes funky rhythms and cheeky melodies to evoke an exhilarating feeling. The bouncy synth and futuristic dub-bass compliment the rhythmic drums along with the whimsical lyrics which are about a person’s obsession with not wanting to be lonely.

The name of the song comes from Nirvana lead singer and 90s grunge icon, Kurt Cobain, someone 1iL deeply admires for his free soul and how he expressed his life through music. Similarly, the singer promises to work hard to express various stories and sides of himself through his music in the future.
