WATCH: Former HIGH4 Member Alex Makes Solo Debut As LXX In Heavy “Black” MV

Alex Kim, former main dancer and lead rapper of disbanded boy group HIGH4, returned to the music scene as the solo artist LXX on November 23 at 12 p.m KST with his debut track, “Black.”

The song is a dark, moody, and introspective hip-hop track that highlights LXX’s raw and straightforward delivery, as well as his sincere vocals that are as beautiful as they are surprising for a rapper’s solo debut.

LXX is signed under 28laboratory Music, a music platform launched by his good friend and former idol Corbyn (ex-24K‘s Cory) in partnership with designer Michael Park (ZZOO) and his brand 28laboratory. Corbyn is an artist and executive producer at the company, and produced, mixed, and mastered LXX’s debut. The pair worked together on the music for “Black,” with LXX writing the all-English track with its autobiographical yet universally relatable lyrics.

The music video is equally haunting, not only reflecting the color of the song’s title, but also the place in which the lyrics were written, a place of darkness in which one feels trapped. It was directed by another member of the 28laboratory family: An Byungseon, or ABS as he is better known as, of ABSfilm. Meanwhile, ZZOO took charge of the sleek styling featured in the video.

LXX debuted in boy group HIGH4 in February 2017 with the mega hit “Not Spring, Love, Or Cherry Blossoms,” a collaboration with singer IU. He also formed the group’s hip-hop sub-unit HIGH4:20 with member Youngjun.
