On September 7th at 6 p.m. KST, Apink‘s Kim Namjoo dropped her solo debut single, “Bird.”
The trap dance pop song details the singer’s ambition to achieve her dreams and showcases her as a formidable woman who is ready to take on anything. (G)I-DLE‘s Soyeon and Big Sancho (Yummy Tone) took charge of writing and composing for the track.
In a press conference held to formally launch her debut, it was revealed that “Bird” drew its roots from a line off Herman Hesse’s “Damien” which said, “The bird fights its way out of the egg.” This can be likened to Namjoo’s determination to break out of her sweeter image as a member of Apink to forge a fresh bolder one on her own.
Apink returned earlier this year with their ninth mini-album Look and its title track, “Dumhdurum.”

Katherine has been an ELF since 2010. She reads just about anything and is raising a pride of demanding cats. She recently finished TGCF and 2ha. She’ll probably get to reading SVSS and MDZS next before hunting down other novels. Can’t wait to suffer with Chu Wanning in Immortality! ?
