WATCH: Musical Actress Geum Na Ra Makes Solo Debut With Trot Song “Encore” MV

Geum Na Ra, a rising star in the industry through her musical acting credits and as a former member of the electro group MIKEL, has made her debut as a soloist on August 3rd at 12 p.m. KST with “Encore.”

The pop-based dance, trot song— reminiscent of the retro-funk styles of the 70’s and 80’s— will give you a feeling of being on a colorful Broadway stage. It was produced by Kim Ji-Hwan of team Play Sound, ranked as number 1 in the world of adult music in Korea.

With repeated melodies and lyrics that are so catchy you’ll be singing along at the first listen, the grand sounds of brass, piano, and strings add to the song’s excitement along with Na Ra’s cool vocals.

Performing the instruments on the track are Korea’s top studio musicians, including drummer Kang Soo Ho, bassist and member of modern rock band GrinbiChoi Hoon, well-known chorus and backing vocalist Kim Hyun-ah, and renowned pianist daniEL (Jeong Dong-yoon).

The music video is as fun and elaborate as you’d expect from the trot concept. Meanwhile, the choreography was made Bae Yoonjung, the trainer and mentor from “Produce 101 Season 1,” “Produce 48,” and “Produce X 101.”

“Encore” is the first release in Geum Na Ra and Play Sound’s pop-based dance trilogy.
