WATCH: Mateo Says “Sorry” In First Release Under EXA Entertainment

Singer and vocal trainer Mateo released the heart-wrenching ballad “Sorry” on May 22nd at 6 p.m. KST.

The song is a Korean-style pop ballad that tells the story of being separated from your beloved. The lyrical melodies and sweet strings evoke a mournful feeling which is enhanced by Mateo’s authentic and powerful vocals.

Mateo’s first album, entitled Sorry, was released under the young company EXA Entertainment. The agency was founded in 2018 by Moon Junyoung, leader of the boy group ZE:A. As an established idol and prominent DJ, Junyoung personally oversaw the production of this album himself.

Mateo was previously known by his real name of Kang Sungho. However, he took on the stage name after Hwang Kwanghee of ZE:A gave him the name meaning “gift of God.” Mateo first gained attention in 2016 on the Korean singing competition “Vocal War: God’s Voice,” winning against popular female vocalist Gummy.
