Boy group members Hangyeom of Seven O’Clock and Jaejun of TREI have dropped a surprise collaboration the two composed together titled “Did You Hate Me?!”
The song was posted on Hangyeom’s SoundCloud on April 12th KST, with the Seven O’Clock leader penning the lyrics and arranging the track.
“Did You Hate Me!?” is a mid-tempo melodic hip-hop song with catchy hooks that captures the duo’s distinct vocal and rap styles playing off each other flawlessly. The lyrics describe being in the predicament of wondering if you are in a one-sided relationship, and being too scared to ever find out the answers to those questions.
Hangyeom and Jaejun share more in common than simply a friendship and mutual musicianship: both are the leaders of their respective groups, both used to perform under stage names before switching to their given names, and both were contestants on the survival show “MIXNINE,” which saw Jaejun making it to the finals and Hangyeom even making it into the final group.
Hangyeom, who used to promote under the stage name A-Day, debuted as the leader, main rapper, main dancer, vocalist and visual of Forest Network boy group Seven O’Clock in 2017.
He regularly posts original self-composed songs through both his personal SoundCloud and the group’s official SoundCloud, most recently arranging, co-writing and composing Seven O’Clock fan song “Smile” for the group’s 3rd anniversary, as well as releasing a self-animated MV for his self-produced solo track “Dangerous.”
Jaejun is the leader, main dancer, lead vocal and visual of Banana Culture boy group TREI. Originally a duo, the three-member group officially debuted in 2019 with the song “Gravity”. Known as label mate EXID’s “little brother group” and for their unique charms as musicians who can self-produce their own music, Jaejun along with other members participates in the composition and writing of the group’s tracks.
He is also a former member of boy group C-Clown, where he was the adorable and striking maknae Maru from 2012 until 2015. Debuting at only 15 years of age, he is one of the youngest idols to debut in a kpop group.
With all that experience and talent between the two of them, it’s no wonder a song featuring both leaders would be such a hit!
