Kim Jong Kook And Song Ji Hyo Confirm Departure From “Running Man”

More sad news for fans of the “Running Man” series— members Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo are leaving the program.

Kim Jong Kook’s agency confirmed that he has decided to leave the show, but they did not reveal when his last filming date will be. Some Korean outlets say that the star is only scheduled to film up until next week.

Meanwhile, Song Ji Hyo’s agency revealed that she has been considering the decision for quite some time now due to the demands of her career. Although her departure is now confirmed also, it’s still unclear when her last episode will be.

For quite some time, fans have been speculating that the end was near as members were getting busier with their individual schedules and the demands of the variety show have become more difficult as they’ve gotten older. With the departure of Kang Gary just a few short weeks ago, many speculated that Kim Jong Kook and Song Ji Hyo would be the next to go since Jong Kook and Ji Hyo are both known to be very close to Gary. In addition, Kim Jong Kook has made it known that he finds it difficult to shoot “Running Man” recently due to his continual heath problems and the physical demands of filming the show.

Many people are already speculating who will replace the members. The agency of long time comedian Kang Ho Dong (“Knowing Bros,” “Star King”)  has confirmed that he is in talks about possibly joining the cast, but no decision has been made.

While some fans hope the show continues, others are saying it’s time to call it quits since so many original members are leaving.
