FTISLAND’s Choi Jonghoon Leaves Industry Due To Recent Scandal

FTISLAND‘s Choi Jonghoon has left his group and FNC Entertainment.

After Jung Joon Young recently admitted to secretly filming his sexual exploits with women and then sharing them in chats to friends, rumors began to grow that one of those men was Choi Junghoon. Although FNC first denied the reports, a Korean news outlet released screenshots of a conversation which seemed to prove otherwise. At the center of the report was the rumor that Junghoon had suffered a DUI but bribed police to keep it quiet. FNC said after checking with their artist, he confirmed the DUI but denied bribing the police or partaking in any hidden video chats.

However, the company has now announced that he is leaving his position in the industry after admitting to various issues. Although they did not specify what he admitted to, they went on to reveal that he is under suspicion for additional issues apart from the ones he admitted to personally, saying that some of them were claimed to have been forgotten by the FTISLAND leader.

Shortly thereafter, the artist himself revealed a letter to fans through social media, stating that he had in fact forgotten about some of the incidents and would be cooperating with the police investigation. Again, he did not specify what he had admitted to, but he did apologize to the public and fans for disappointing them, as well as to the victims who were hurt because of his issues. He said that seeing his conversations and comments again after all this time made him realize that he had been lulled into a sense of entitlement and that he deeply regrets it and will spend the rest of his life reflecting.

FNC also apologized to the public for not teaching their artists better character and behavior and went on to state that they would be stricter in the education and management of their artists from now on.
