JYP Reveal Plans For New Japanese Girl Group

JYP Entertainment is planning to debut a new girl group!

On February 7th, Park Jin Young will be holding a press conference in Tokyo to present the details of a new Japanese girl group that will be launched in partnership with Sony Music Japan.

He had previously explained his vision of expanding and adapting to the evolving K-pop industry. According to Park Jin Young, he plans to cater to a wider audience with “globalization through localization.”

He believes that after cultivating local talent, the next move will be discovering foreign talent that will be taken in and fostered into their system. He says that the latest viable step would be to directly tap and create talent from outside Korea.

JYP Entertainment is planning to open auditions in and out of Japan this year in search of the newest members of the JYP family.

The company, in partnership with Tencent Music Entertainment, debuted a Chinese boy group named BOY STORY in 2018. The group is composed of six members and debuted with an average age of 13.

Katherine has been an ELF since 2011. She reads just about anything and is a parent of eight demanding cats. She likes to stay home and worry about Heechul’s imminent balding during her free time.
