Super Junior has set another new record!
The legendary K-pop group has long since enjoyed tremendous success in Taiwan, their songs and albums staying at number one on the KKBOX charts for months at a time. Now, they set another record when they became the first foreign artist to ever win the grand prize of Artist of the Year at the KKBOX Music Awards.
The awards started in 2005 and grew to become a large music show where over 12 million people watch the live broadcast. The awards are based on over 12 billion streams and downloads from Asian countries like Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and more.
Meanwhile, Super Junior’s album PLAY has been at number one on the KKBOX weekly Korean chart for 63 weeks since November 6th, 2017.
The awards ceremony will be held at the Taipei Arena on July 26th. Super Junior will be performing some of their hits like “Black Suit” and “Sorry, Sorry.”
