Congratulations to Super Junior and their fandom, E.L.F!
On August 29th, it was revealed that after a long time of voting and fan participation, the final winner of Billboard’s 2018 Fan Army Face-Off is none other than Super Junior and E.L.F! This marks the fifth consecutive year that a Kpop group has won the award, showing the true power of Kpop artists and their fandoms in the global music community.
In fact, many Kpop artists and their fandoms were nominated for the honor, with many people turning out daily to vote. However, they went up against tough competition as fans turned out to support Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, and more. As people were eliminated, however, the bracket grew smaller until the final two remained: Super Junior: E.L.F and Harry Styles: Stylers.
After days of voting for the final two fandoms and artists, the results ended with Super Junior winning 2,239,554 votes as opposed to 1,818,417 votes from Harry Styles’ fandom. It was a close race for sure, but Kpop fans were happy to see one of the most famous groups in the Kpop community take the top prize.
