Day one of KCON LA this year was more than what anyone expected! Filled with giggles, amazement, and excitement, the August 11th concert was something no fan wanted to miss!
The concert started off with the demonstration team from KUKKIWON, the globally famous World Taekwondo Headquarters, who wowed the audience with their creative and skillful taekwondo performance. The excitement continued as MOMOLAND appeared on stage with their hit song “Bboom Bboom” and “BAAM.” TWICE members Jihyo and Mina then came on stage introducing themselves, bringing in a bright atmosphere for the day’s concert.
Cheers and smiles were evoked when IN2IT performed “Sorry For My English” and “Snapshot,” showing off both the cute and cool sides from the group. A switch in mood came as well when Dynamic Duo appeared with “Hot Wing” as Chungha covered SISTAR’s Hyorin’s part in the song.
The smooth transition from “Hot Wing” to Mia‘s “Blind” afterwards charmed the audience further as the artist’s voice echoed beautifully throughout the venue. Mia surprised viewers with a splendid performance of “City of Stars” from the movie LaLaLand, a very memorable moment for her first stage at KCON.
Golden Child pumped up the excitement, appearing with “Let Me” and “DamDaDi” where fans were getting up on their feet and dancing to the beat. The catchy tune was just too much to resist! “End of Time” then played over the speakers for a special stage by Jihyo, Momo, and Tzuyu of TWICE. The audience went crazy without a doubt.
Along with an especially precious introduction, Davichi performed three songs, including “This Love,” “8282,” and “Nostalgia.” The duo’s powerful vocals never fail to amaze each and every one of the audience members.
After an exciting MC moment with Wanna One’s Daehwi and Minhyun, Crush took the stage with his eloquent and smooth rap performance with “Bittersweet,” as well as his collaboration with Dynamic Duo for “Friday Night.” “Baaam” was also on the setlist with Crush even singing a bit of “Beautiful,” the popular Goblin OST where screams soon followed.
TWICE went all out and performed four songs, including “Dance the Night Away,” “What Is Love,” “Likey,” and “Cheer Up.” Unless you were there in person, it’s hard to truly imagine how loud the cheers were. The members explored the stage and interacted with fans, thrilling the audience with their fan service. The group was definitely a favorite of the night.
Ailee‘s stage followed, and screams were heard all over at the entrance of this beloved vocalist! Her exquisite singing skills and impressive presentation were beyond imaginable in all of her songs. As her opening song, “I Will Show You” especially stood out, but “U and I,” as well as “Atmosphere,” weren’t too far from being the crowd’s favorites as well.
As the closing artist, Wanna One brought out so much excitement that it seemed impossible to believe how many fans were there for them. Every section had multiple fans who turned up for the group— as evidenced by the screams during “Light,” “Energetic,” and “I. P. U.” Their last track “Burn It Up” was a great choice as well seeing how the audience were left in awe and disappointed that the concert was finished.
All in all, the energy KCON brought was just unmatched this year. There was so much energy that the night will not easily be forgotten, making the concert even more special for fans!
