Netflix’s first-ever Korean variety show, entitled “Busted!,” has taken the variety world by storm! Although the new variety show is only a few episodes into their first season, they are enough to have any viewer hooked.
Here are our five reasons why you should be watching “Busted!” right now!
With a super cast of idols and variety show legends, fans couldn’t ask for a better combination for a variety show cast! This time around, there are variety legends like Yoo Jae Suk and Lee Kwang Soo, two well-known members of “Running Man,” as well as Kim Jong Min of “2 Days 1 Night.” We can’t forget the other cast members such as actors Park Min Young, EXO‘s Sehun, and gugudan‘s Sejeong. Although the cast are playing characters named after themselves, the gags and friendship are all the same! This diverse cast alone is enough of a reason to be watching.
Murder Mystery is always a fun genre to have for a show, but mixing variety and mystery all in one? Well, that is definitely one way to make an addicting drama! These Detectives solve clues— whether it is to solve a murder and or to find treasure. However, they do it in the most entertaining way possible! Whether it involves chasing down a suspect, getting hit in the face with cream, or finding clues amidst comedy and action, this new show keeps fans watching by allowing them to try to solve the clues as well. Half scripted drama and half variety, this is definitely a new genre for fans. Although it might take some getting used to at first, the show has the potential to hook viewers for the entire season. What could be better?
A classic “whodunit” story opened the first episode with a mysterious invitation for the seven “detectives”. When they all arrive, their host, M, gives a speech and explains the game they will be playing. A gunshot or two later marks the start to what is more than just a dinner party, but the start to a murder mystery! In a series where each episode is different and the story line varies each time, the goals for the episodes differ with each new story. Whether it is finding a murderer or a treasure, the detectives go through obstacles, chases, and hunts to solve the case.
One thing that makes this show great is— of course— the strong ladies! Sejeong and Min Young are the two ladies in the show that really show their strength and skills! One of the best moments was when Sehun and the other male cast members were screaming and running away as the girls picked up live snakes to find a clue hidden beneath them! Though the characters they play are scripted, the show still relies on the real-life talents and intelligence of the celebrities to solve the mysteries— and to conquer a few challenges along the way. Hooray for strong ladies who know how to get the job done!
Perhaps better than anything else on this list is the chemistry between the cast members! Whether it’s their long-term friendship or the character involvement, what makes this show great so far is how these characters work together to solve the crimes together! Whether it’s Yoo Jae Suk as our modern-day Sherlock Homes and variety show legend, the great laying-down detective Min Young, or the stoic Choreographer Sehun, each of the cast’s characters bring a new side to the show that makes it all that more enjoyable to watch!

This show has everything and more! Two new episodes come out each Friday on Netflix and will continue to do so until the end of season one. Meanwhile, the producers have promised that the show just gets better and better with every episode, leading fans to anticipate the upcoming cases even more.

Ceilidhmh is a dancing machine, but when she isn’t dancing to groups like VIXX, Boyfriend, BTS, EXO, or BAP (and basically every other group that exists) she is either watching a Korean drama, cosplaying, filming, studying for her college classes, and or creating fan art! Basically K-pop has taken over her life for many years… Although she loves boy groups the most, she finds herself falling for every K-pop group she comes in contact with and falls deeper and deeper every day.
