Cannes Film Festival has revealed its official line up films this year 2018! This year, two Korean films are included!
Director Lee Chang Dong’s film “Burning’’ has been selected to compete for Palme D’ Or (Grand Prize). The film is about a mysterious incident involving two men and a woman. The story is based on the short story entitled “Barn Burning’’ written by Haruki Murakami. It stars Steven Yeun from the film “Okja,’’ Yoo Ah In, and Jeon Jong Seo. It is Lee Chang Dong’s third time to compete since his film “Secret Sunshine’’ in 2007 and “Poetry’’ in 2010 premiered as competition entries at Cannes Film Festival.
Yoon Jong Bin’s “Spy Gone North’’ has been selected to be presented for midnight screenings. It is a thriller film which follows a story of a South Korean spy who infiltrates North Korea to obtain information regarding the nuclear weapon plans during the mid 1990s. It stars Hwang Jung Min, Lee Sung Min, Cho Jin Woong, and Ju Ji Hoon.
Cannes Film Festival aims to promote quality works of art in terms of their contribution in the evolution of motion pictures and encourage innovation and development of the film industry across the globe.
The 71st Cannes Film Festival will officially start on May 8th and run until May 19th.
