South Korean Bobsleigh Team Makes History By Winning Silver On Last Day Of Competition

The South Korean four-member bobsleigh (also known as bobsled) team won the silver medal on the last day of Pyeongchang Winter Olympics!

The team set a record with a combined time of three minutes and 16.38 seconds, becoming tied with the German bobsleigh team after their four heats at the Olympic Sliding Center in Gangwon Province.

The South Koreans were the first to start the opening run and set a time of 48.64 seconds. In their second run, their time was marked as 49.19 seconds. In the third heat, they accumulated a time of 49.15 seconds and maintained their second place. They obtained 49.65 seconds in their last run and tied German’s team record.

South Korea is now is the first Asian country to win an Olympic medal in the bobsleigh competition. Previously, South Korea finished sixth place in the two-man bobsleigh event.

This also marks the second Olympic medal won by South Korea from sledding sports since Yun Sung Bin earned the gold medal last week.
