Actor Jung Suk Won, husband of famous singer Baek Ji Young, has been arrested on drug charges.
On February 9th KST, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that Jung Suk Won had been arrested on February 8th at the Incheon airport on drug charges. He is currently under investigation.
The actor reportedly used Philopon, a form of methamphetamine, while on vacation in Australia. As a result and in concordance with Korean laws about being able to arrest citizens who do drugs abroad, the actor was arrested upon returning to Korea.
His label made a statement that confirmed he is currently under investigation to see whether he used drugs while drinking with a friend in Australia. They went on to ask people not to make speculative reports and also added that they would make a full statement after the investigation and police findings are revealed.
A source from within the police agency shared that the actor was reportedly tested for drugs with the results being positive. In addition, it was reported that Jung Suk Won has admitted to some of the drug charges. However, there has been no official word from police yet on any of these details.
Jung Suk Won started his career as a stuntman before turning to modeling and acting. He is known for his roles in dramas such as “Mr. Baek” and movies such as “R2B: Return to Base.” He and his wife were married in 2013.
Meanwhile, Ms. Baek Ji Young is scheduled for a concert tomorrow. However, her team is currently discussing whether to cancel it or not.
