PSY’s “Gangnam Style” Becomes First Korean MV To Reach 3 Billion Views

PSY has set another new record for Kpop!

The artist’s hit 2012 song, “Gangnam Style,” officially reached over 3 billion views on YouTube, making it the first Kpop video to reach this astounding number. In addition, it is only the third video on YouTube to ever reach this many views. In August 2017, the first one to reach this mark was Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee‘s megahit “Despacito.” It was followed a few days later by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth‘s Furious 7 song, “See You Again.”

PSY’s famous song was a massive hit back in 2012, sweeping the world and becoming a true viral sensation. In fact, it was the first song on YouTube to ever break 1 billion views, forcing YouTube to come up with a new video counter since they never expected videos to reach such a high number of views.

Upon reaching the 3 billion mark, PSY made a post on Twitter to thank fans. Check it out below!

Congratulations to PSY for setting another amazing music and Kpop record!
