The newest LOONA unit, ODD EYE CIRCLE, has made their official debut!
On September 21st at 12 p.m. KST, the music video for “Girl Front” was released! ODD EYE CIRCLE is the second pre-debut unit from LOONA. LOONA’s concept involves around all twelve members having their own solo music video before coming together into smaller units and eventually making up the entire group for official debut. ODD EYE CIRCLE consists of the three members Kim Lip, JinSoul, and Choerry who are the most recent to release their solo music videos. They also follow five other members Heejin, Hyunjin, Haseul, Yeojin, and ViVi who have already been revealed through their own solo videos, as well as music through the unit LOONA 1/3.
The song “Girl Front” is an upbeat techno track that differentiates itself from the previous LOONA comebacks with its distinct style. The music video is filled with colorful aesthetics, as well as a desert and urban scene through which the girls are seen running. The three members are dressed in their distinct color themes from their solo music videos (Red- Kim Lip, Blue- JinSoul, and Purple- Choerry). Supposedly, each member of LOONA will have a color theme and corresponding animal.
There is a distinct concept throughout each music video released and somewhat of a story-line involved with each comeback. The description of “Girl Front” states:
“The story that began with HeeJin’s ‘ViViD’ created a group named ‘3’, composed of HeeJin, HyunJin, and HaSeul. Yeojin added ‘/’ while ViVi added ‘1’ to complete LOOΠΔ 1/3. Kim Lip with ‘Eclipse’, JinSoul with Singing in the Rain’, and Choerry with ‘Love Cherry Motion’ gathered to create a new group, ‘ODD EYE CIRCLE’ to start a new story.
Plenty of imageries and metaphors are in LOOΠΔ’s music, lyrics, albums, and music videos for fans search for like puzzle pieces to complete. For instance, the word ‘ODD’ in ODD EYE CIRCLE is used as its original definition, but is also an image of three moons together.”
Many viewers and fans alike have jumped onto online boards to discuss LOONA’s company and their interesting (and expensive) tactic of releasing up to 16 music videos even prior to debut, as well as the unique concept involved in it all.
Each unit has promoted their music live, despite the solo tracks not being promoted on music programs, so fans can look forward to live performances of ODD EYE CIRCLE’s “Girl Front” soon.
