It’s a great week for Super Junior fans! Lee Donghae has finally finished his military duties and been discharged from service!
On July 14th at approximately 9:30 a.m. KST, the talented singer and actor was released from duty. A crowd of fans, known as ELF, were waiting outside since early morning hours. As a police officer, he said he would just make his exit from the police station quietly and only greet fans if they happened to come, but fans were not to be denied as they waited patiently for him and welcomed him with deafening cheers.
In attendance was fellow member Eunhyuk, who was just discharged two days ago himself. Donghae, despite still being enlisted at Eunhyuk’s discharge, still went to welcome his best friend back from the military. Fans were thrilled to see Eunhyuk had returned the favor and met Donghae with a big hug, thrilled to be reunited again at last. Other members also welcomed Eunhyuk, but they were unable to be there for Donghae since they were traveling to Osaka today for the upcoming SMTOWN Live concert.
Donghae enlisted on his birthday in October of 2015 and served as a police officer in the promotional unit after basic training.
Immediately upon being released and going to his car, Donghae took off his police uniform and started a live stream with Eunhyuk so they could talk to their fans— seems like they missed their fans as much as their fans missed them. The two members also have their own sub-unit called Super Junior D&E and will make their way back into the music scene with a fan meeting this month! It was also just announced a few minutes ago that the two are the last performers to be added to the lineup for KCON LA 2017!
Meanwhile, the hashtag #WelcomeBackDonghae is the number one trend worldwide on Twitter at the moment.
