Lee Byung Hun has been announced as the lead in the upcoming drama “Mr. Sunshine.”
“Mr. Sunshine” is the highly anticipated drama from the writer of hit programs like “Descendants of the Sun” and “Goblin.” Author Kim Eunsuk had previously announced that she was working on the drama and already had someone in mind to play the lead. It looks like her idea came to fruition because the 46-year-old mega star is making his return to Korean television in the upcoming series.
“Mr. Sunshine” is about a boy who goes to the U.S. via an American warship during the United States expedition to Joseon (South Korea) in 1871. Years later, he returns to his home country as an American soldier stationed in the country and meets a young lady there and subsequently falls in love.
According to Ms. Eunsuk, this is a drama she wrote a long time ago, but the timing was never right to release it. This will be her third project with director Lee Eungbok after their joint success with “Descendants of the Sun” and “Goblin.”
The new drama will begin airing in early 2018. Who’s excited?
